Tattershall is a friendly village in Lincolnshire. Historic sites include the church of the Holy Trinity, a buttercross, a castle, Collegiate College, and Tom Thumb’s house and grave. The Old Station House, with ticket office and goods shed is a Grade II listed building and the former railway line is now a cycle path. Local pubs are the Black Horse on the High Street and the Fortescue Arms in the Market Place. The Fortesque Arms dates from the 15th century and is a Grade II listed building. Tattershall Carrs forms the last remaining remnants of ancient wet woodland, dominated by alder that once ringed the margins of the Fens. Bomb shelters on a former RAF site at Woodhall Spa have been converted into bat roosts. The National Trust's Tattershall Castle is a moated 15th century red-brick castle set in beautiful grounds. Collegiate College is the remains of a grammar school for church choristers, founded in the mid-15th century.
